November 21 - 27

He stepped out of the house, and quickened his pace. The bus was almost there, and he was infamous for missing it. As he trotted onto the large yellow vehicle, he chose a seat next to Rory, his best friend.

"That was a close call."
"Tell me about it."
"Hey, did you hear about the test that Brown is plotting for tomorrow? It's supposed to be killer. I've heard that it's on every word that's come out of his mouth for the past 2 months."
"There goes my B."
"Aw, come on. You haven't failed a test since second grade. Hear, help me study."

As they crawled toward the many adults intent on making their lives miserable, Sonny looked out the window and watched the power poles go by in a blur, and as they slowed, become individual again. He wondered if he saw people in the same way. All the same, until you took the time to get to know them and notice all the intricate details. All the knots, gnarls, and ridges. He hardly even noticed when Rory said that the Nazis had tortured the pilgrims during the Civil War, barely making it in time to correct him. Rory was right. Sonny wasn't going to be the one whose grade would drop drastically.

The two boys walked toward their locker, saying hi to almost everyone they came across. They were popular, and for good reason. Sonny had always tried to talk to as many people as he could, hoping that someone had liked him. Turns out his expectations were exceeded.

While loading up their arms with books, binders, pencils, pens, and every other school supply under the sun, Rory noticed someone coming closer.

"Dude, Shar Livingston is coming this way. And, sadly, she's not looking at me. Prepare yourself for a great amount of flirting."

Sonny had gotten everyone to like him, but still hadn't quite gotten over his initial state of being shy. Rory was the one who would start the conversations, Sonny coming in later. He had no idea why Shar Livingston was coming up to him. He was just your average American kid, trying his hardest in this world.

"Hey Rory, Sonny... How was your weekend?"
"Uh, good. You?"
"Pretty boring. Wish you were there."
"Yeah. I was busy. Um, sorry."
"Well then, how about getting together sometime this week?"
"I guess."
"Alright. See ya, Sonny."

Now, just because Sonny was shy, didn't mean that he didn't notice Shar Livingston. Every guy in school noticed Shar Livingston. He watched her walk away with her little troupe of girls, all giggling and smiling. He walked to English in a daze, needing Rory to help him make sure he got to the right class. Shar Livingston. Why him? He wasn't amazingly good looking, smart, athletic, or witty. He just liked to sit at the piano and tell the world his story through music. But even if that is what she liked, how did she find that out? He was still wondering when he saw something outside the door. Rory was outside, holding a hall pass, waving to get his attention. What now?

Sonny asked to use the hall pass, and stepped outside. He was met by Rory, who said to go to the office as fast as he could.

November 14-20

This week was very busy. At least there were more A days than B days. A days are much, much better. I had to get my homework done before 6:00, so that I could shove food in my mouth and go out the door for my play. We had to be there at 6:30, and since it takes 15 minutes to get there, I really got sick of driving there. The show started at 7:30. I was not in it until the second scene, so I had a little bit of extra time. Last night (closing night), when the lights came up and I was standing there in my principal costume, two random girls started laughing their heads off! It was kind of weird, but funny at the same time. I forgot to put my glasses on once this week, and completely left them off stage once. I almost missed my cue last night, but figured it out quickly enough and just came on from a different entrance. The audience last night was fantastic. Word from the wise: When you're watching a live performance, laugh at the jokes, even if it's fake. It makes the actors feel better. :) One of the guys gave all the girls a rose, which was really sweet.

My math class is totally and completely insane. If you blank out for 10 seconds, you very well might be confused the rest of the hour and 20 minute class period. I've never had math homework my whole junior high life, but oh! Did that change this year. :) In fact, I really need to do that. And my monologue for drama. There goes my sleep for tonight. And my brother's. :) I also have to study for a geography test tomorrow. At least I don't have any Spanish homework. I think. I despise B days being on Monday! Augh! But, life is good.

My brother's mission farewell is next week, and that's when the crying fest begins. And he doesn't leave until October 14. Not sure if my eyes will work by then. Can you run out of tears? Because it just might happen. At least a bunch of family is coming over. And gets to see me cry. Dang! You know, I only write these things because I know that I am just sending them into space, and no one will ever read them. :) It's sort of like a journal, except there is the slightest possibility that someone might actually read it. Very very slight. :) Wow, I'm talking to myself. That's nice.

My parents and I were looking at our toes. My dad's are straight and my mom's are curled. But nothing like mine! My toes are so annoying when trying to get them into tight shoes or wakeboard bindings. I can't even straighten them! The curses of life.

Songs stuck in my head: "Maria" from West Side Story, thanks to a certain friend of mine. Also "She's in Love" from The Little Mermaid (broadway).

500 words is a lot

I'm not really sure what we're supposed to right about, but here it goes. :) I don't know about you guys, but this week was kind of lame. However, it really helped that it was only 4 days. Because of my absence last Friday, you would not believe the amounts of homework. Algebra 2 Honors: woah. Who would have known that a brain could hurt so badly? Also, for the past two years I have had practically zippo homework in math (thank you Mr. Jones). Now, it can reach 2 hours or more. I'm still working on getting used to that. Either way, 9th grade totally beats out 8th. Why did I even waste my time with 8th? haha
Saturday was pretty awesome. We celebrated my 2 brothers' birthdays, so we had a blast. First we went to Speed Street (indoor go-kart racing, for those of you who don't know). I'm not that amazing, but I still had a lot of fun. We did 40 laps, which breaks up into 2 different 20 lap "sessions". You take 5 laps, and then they line you up according to your fastest lap. You should have seen my little brothers face when I qualified before him. :) They said my name, and he started driving before he realized that it was yours truly, not him. Classic. :) That was probably the highlight of my day. That was in the afternoon, so we went out to dinner at Garcia's, much to my dismay. What do my 3 brothers have against me and my restaurant choices? Either way, it worked out, because it was delicious. Just don't tell my parents that or my image would be totally blown. :) haha This was followed by a trip to Blockbuster, where we picked up "Coraline", "Duplicity", and "Bride Wars". My parents and I watched "Duplicity" downstairs with ClearPlay on the projector while my brothers watched "Coraline" upstairs in the living room. "Duplicity": totally lame ending. Nice twist, but should have been twisted more. According to my siblings, "Coraline" was sort of disturbing. I believe them. I watched "Bride Wars" this morning before church and it was okay. Not the best, but decent. I'm up to about 370 words now. Getting closer...
So my play opens tomorrow and my parents are coming opening night. Great. Not. Why does anyone come opening night? Closing is going to be close to atrocious. Why put yourself through the misery of opening? Family night, apparently. It's called "My School Musical". It's a rip-off of "High School Musical", in case you didn't catch that. I am Principal Scnibbey, the show's narrator. I walk on, explain, maybe a few lines that I can actually work with, then off. And I always cross stage right to left while I'm saying them, which is starting to bug the heck out of me. However, my costumes? Pretty wicked. Besides my too large character shoes. At least the rehearsals all this week have been humorous. :)
Songs stuck in my head lately: "Madame Guillotine" from the Scarlet Pimpernel and "Shall we Dance" from the King and I.
